Man Seeks Security Claiming Threats by DSP

Rupandehi,DSP le yatana ra dhamki diyeko bhandai jiwan raksha ko maag Rupandehi/April 9 Pradhyumna Man Shrestha, 46, of Siddharthanagar Municipality-6 has issued a public appeal at a press conference seeking justice against what he claims the torture and intimidation by DSP and District Police Office spokesperson Deepak Neupane. According to Shrestha, he was physically and mentally tortured by DSP Neupane had wielded his status to deal with a personal matter of monetary transaction. Shrestha has also filed an appeal at NHRC sub-regional office, Butwal. Shrestha said that a group of police in plain cloth had taken him to the District Police Office on March 19 citing the order from DSP. As he reached there, DSP told him to sign a deed of financial transaction with Muna Basnet Aryal and when that when he refused, he was beaten up. He said that Neupane had threatened him with charging him under Anti-Drug trafficking Act which could land him in custody for 90 days. A case has been filed in the court following some dispute over money between Shrestha and Muna, the wife of former SI Devraj Aryal. SI Aryal had been a ghumuwa (informer) in the district for a long time. The dispute is reported related to the money played for Dukuti. In his defence, DSP Neupane claimed that he had been framed. When asked, SP Mingmar Lama said that departmental action would be taken against the police officer if found guilty.
