The District Police Office, Parsa, arrested journalist Umesh Duve, a resident of Phulwariya in Feta village of Bara for manhandling a police officer.
A team of the Crime Branch of the District Police Office, Parsa arrested Duve on July 29 in front of My TV office in Birgunj. He is affiliated with TV Today, My TV, Jangunaso Daily, Economic National Daily and New Sandesh Daily. Duve is accused of having a dispute with the on-duty police at Power House Chowk in Birgunj in front of Parsa Police Chief Superintendent of Police Ganga Pant and Deputy Superintendent of Police Manojit Kunwar.
On Wednesday, journalist Duve posted two statuses on the social network Facebook targeting police chief SP Pant. The team of Crime Branch of Parsa Police took him under control. However, the police have claimed that they arrested the accused after abusing the on-duty police in front of a high-ranking police officer.
