Businessman Jagannath Jha of Siraha, Sakhuwananjarkatti Ward-4 has accused DSP Sharad Thapa Chhetri of Lahan of issuing death threat and hurling racial slurs on him on July 30. Thapa had been inviting Jha since July 20 and asking for electrical equipment such as AC and washing machine free of cost.
According to Jha, on July 30, DSP Thapa invited him and 3 others to his residence, confiscated his mobile phone, gave death threats to him and his family, made communal remarks, wrote the check for Kanchan Chaudhary, and made him sign it at gunpoint. He was also held hostage for 4 hours.
Jha has alleged that he was tortured when he did not provide the accused with goods and informed CDO Pradip Raj Kandel about it on July 28.
Jha has filed a case against DSP Thapa, Sagen Chaudhary, Anil Chaudhary, and Kanchan Chaudhary and has demanded protection of life and property from the court and local stakeholders.
