Police have arrested a woman for forcing a 13-year-old Mamta to commit suicide. Sarita Rai, a resident of Dharan Sub-Metropolis-4, Lower Bhalukhola, was arrested by the Area Police Office, Dharan on Sunday evening on the charge of inciting suicide.
Inspector Hemraj Oli of the Area Police Office Dharan said that the girl's father had lodged a complaint two days ago. Mamata was found hanging in a goat pen by her relatives on August 11.
According to the details of the incident, the night before Mamata's death, Sarita Rai (Sanju), who was staying at the house of the girl's grandfather Birt Bahadur Rai, had beaten her during a dispute over 'damage of the TV remote'.
According to DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet, Dharan, the investigation is underway.
