Rudra Gurung, 36, a resident of Gaidakot2 of Nawalparasi, who had been admitted to Unity Rehabilitation Centre at Buddha Chowk of BharatpurN.P.2, died on February 21, Chitwan District Police Office said.

"My elder brother Rudra, who was involved in drug addiction, had been admitted to the Centre a few days, however, officials at the Centre beat him to death," Prakash Gurung, brother of the deceased said. Demanding action against the guilty, Prakash had filed a complaint at DPO on February 23.

Black marks have covered entire dead body and marks of tying the hands are also visible, SI at DPO, Tanka Prasad Bhattarai said, adding that necessary action will be initiated after investigation of the incident.

Though the body was taken to Bharatpur Hospital for post-mortem, it had not taken place till late evening on February 24.
