The District Police Office Bara has reportedly refused to register a complaint filed by Ward Chairperson of Ward 5 of Suwarna Rural Municipality Ram Ekwal Sah regarding an incident of physical assault on him by a group of youths.
A group of three youths physically assaulted the ward chairperson during a meeting held to discuss the incident of rape on a 12-year-old Muslim girl from Auriya by 25-year-old Shiva Pujan Yadav. The youths assaulted Sah after he refused to provide a reference requested by the girl's father saying that he could not provide a reference on a serious offence like rape. Sah later filed a complaint against the youths but police refused to register it. SP Gautam Mishara of DPO Bara claimed that the did not register the complaint as they could not determine that Sah was physically assaulted as they could not find any sign of injury on him.
