The protests and demonstrations which erupted in Butwal soon after the decision of the government of Province 5 to make Deukhuri of Dang the capital city of the province have continued on Monday as well.
The protests in Butwal have intensified since early Monday morning.
A meeting of the Provincial 5 Assembly has been called for this afternoon for further discussion on the government’s proposal to make Deukhuri the capital of Province 5.
Earlier on Sunday, the District Administration Office, Rupandehi, had to enforce curfew orders in some places of Butwal so as to bring the situation under control. However, the youths and locals have been staging protests defying the DAO’s orders.
A large number of security personnel have been deployed in Butwal as the protests intensify further.
The protestors pelted stones at Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel’s vehicle on Sunday. As a result, a large number of security personnel have been deployed around and on the premises of the province assembly building.
