Kathmandu, October 5

Province 5 Assembly lawmakers belonging to the main opposition Nepali Congress have vandalised furniture in the assembly meeting hall on Monday.

Protesting the provincial government’s proposal on establishing the provincial capital in Bhalubang of Dang, they resorted to vandalism. The opposition wants to retain Butwal, the current temporary capital.

While the opposition side was protesting, the speaker let Internal Affairs and Law Minister Kul Prasad KC table the proposal about the capital for a decision this afternoon. However, the opposition lawmakers blocked him from going to the rostrum, trying to snatch the test of the proposal from him.

Following that, they vandalised chairs and tables.

In the meantime, KC tabled his proposal for the final discussion.
