Administrative office of Karnali Institute of Health Sciences padlocked indefinitely

2020-10-12

The administration office of Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Jumla has been padlocked indefinitely by the staff welfare society alleging the Vice- Chancellor Dr Rajendra Raj Wagle was appointed the dean of public health faculty in an irregular manner on Monday, October 12.

The offices of the Registrar, the Vice-Chancellor and the Head of Education within the hospital administration were padlocked and all the administrative work in the hospital came to a standstill. Two deans were already appointed to the institute who could have been given the responsibility of the public health faculty. However, Dr Wagle appointed another dean from the Kathmandu Liaison Office stating the earlier appointment was not in the interest of the Karnali Foundation which agitated the employees.

The employee's Welfare Society had given 24 hours ultimatum to withdraw the appointment of Dean on October 12 but even after that, no attention was given by the administration so they were forced to lock the administration.

They are urging the people of Jumla to join the agitation against the irregularities in the process of appointing deans and other fake employees. They further demanded that all the wasteful appointments including the deans of the irregularly appointed health faculties to be revoked, the demands made by the staff welfare society to be implemented and the risk allowance of all the doctors and staff working in Corona to be made available immediately.

Meanwhile, Dr Wagle says the dean is also needed to establish public relations during Corona and the appointment of a dean has made the establishment more comfortable than difficult. However, the Employees' Welfare Society has warned to close all sections except emergency if the demand is not addressed.
