A 17-year-old boy of from Garuda Municipality-8 Rautahat who was arrested by the police on August 25 on the charge of killing his 21-year-old neighbour Niranjan Ram on August 15, has become mentally unstable as a result of being tortured by the police in custody according to his family. 19-year-old Vijay Ram who was also arrested with the boy died on August 26 as a result of police torture. Rautahat District Court order the police to send the boy for treatment at a mental hospital after seeing his condition while he was presented before the court. He is unable to recognize anyone, refuses to eat or drink anything and speaks randomly. His family accused that the police subjected him to severe torture due to which he went mentally ill. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Mental hospital in Lagankhel of Lalitpur.
