35-year-old Harendra Sah of Pataura village in Maulapur Municipality-5 and his wife Shila were attacked with a sharp weapon by an unidentified person while they were sleeping at their home at around 1 am. Harendra's right ear and his wife's right arm were seriously injured in the attack. 

Although the exact cause of the attack could not be ascertained, according to the nature of the incident, the thief may have come to Sah's house with the intention of burglary and fled after attacking the couple. The wife was attacked first when she shouted for help after she saw the suspicious person in the house and later attacked the husband after he woke up.

District Police Spokesperson Bharat Shrestha said that their condition was improving after the overnight treatment in LS Neuro Hospital, Birgunj. The police are further investigating the case.
