Sikendra Thakur of Sigaunl in Nijgadh Municipality-1 of Bara was involved in a dispute regarding payment after winning a traditional gamble game (Langur-Burja) usually played in Dashain festival. His mother, Sunina Devi went to speak out against the injustice done to her son which resulted in a dispute on October 24. While returning home after a dispute, the local youths pushed her and got seriously injured after her head hit on a sloping road.
Nijgadh police arrested the two on the suspicion of involvement in the dispute. However, after the injured Sunina Devi returned from the hospital, the police released them after mediating with both parties at the police office as Sunina Devi initially returned home after treatment. But she was taken to Birgunj after her condition deteriorated. She died after three days of treatment on October 27.
After the death of the injured, the police immediately started searching for the released and arrested them on the basis of the FIR registered.
