Sudurpashchim, Doti, Jorayal, Ward 5
A police constable in Jorayal rural municipality of Doti in Sudurpaschim has been accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in the neighbourhood of his police post last week.
Sushil Singh, 24, deployed at a temporary police post, raped the girl at her own house in Gadasera, Jorayal-5, on Thursday night last week, according to a complaint filed at the District Police Office on Monday.
When the girl was asleep in her room on the ground floor of the house that night, the policeman entered the room at around 11, it has been learned. He then woke up the girl and raped her. Probably in his bid to hide the crime, he also planned to kill her. He tried to strangle her with a shawl, which made the girl unconscious. Then, he dragged her to the millet farm just outside the house before leaving the site.
“I woke up at around 4 the next morning and came out of the house. I heard someone was crying,” her father says, “I was curious to know who it was, hence, I approached towards the voice. There was my daughter. I took her back to the house.”
The family, then, took the girl to two local health posts seeking treatment, but they referred the case to the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi. The victim also has bruises on her neck and other parts.
“He used to tell me that he loved me. He said he would marry me later,” the 10th grader reveals, “But, he tried to kill me that night.”
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has complained that the temporary police post in Gadasera refused to register the complaint against its staffer, demanding action against Chandra Bhandari, the in-charge of the post.
