Arrested on the charge of assaulting woman for alleged witchcraft

29-year-old Dev Bahadur Pariyar of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolis-5 was arrested on November 5 on the charge of abusing a 30-year-old woman for alleged witchcraft. The victim had lodged a complaint at the District police office, Tulsipur alleging that she was treated indecently time and again claiming that she 'practised witchcraft' and was last treated that way on November 3 by the accused.
