PHIDIM: A VDC Secretary and a Principal of local school, who belong to a same family, beat up an elderly couple in Ranigaun of Panchthar on Tuesday. Mahendra Sambahamphe, Secretary of Ranigaun VDC and Devndra Sambahamphe, Principal of Sarwajanik Lower Seconday School assaulted 65-year-old Tara Chandra Banskota and his wife Khagamaya (63). The dispute surfaced while Devendra thrashed Khagamaya over a drinking water issue. Following the incident, Tara Chandra had filed a complaint at the Yasok Police Post. Tara Chandra said the Sambahamphe duo beat them up while police were attempting reconciliation. The couple have arrived at the district headquarters Phidim in search of justice after local police failed to provide security. They have submitted an application at the District Administration Office demanding security and action against the culprits.
