Man hurt in clash with police dies

Dolpa,PRahari jhadap ma ghayite bhayeko vyakti ko mrityu. DOLPA, JUN 05 - A man, who was injured in a clash with police at Dho VDC-7 in the district on Tuesday night, died on Wednesday. Chhiring Phurwa Gurung, 27, who was found injured on Wednesday morning in the locality, succumbed while being treated in a local health post, police said. He was injured in the clash that erupted after police tried to intervene an incident in which local people thrashed local resident Jyampa Lama and Shey Phoksundo National Park Buffer Zone employee Manab Hamal over a dispute of Yarchagumba collection. Local people accused police of thrashing Gurung, while police denied beating him up saying that they rather took injured Gurung to the health post. Another local resident Chhepten Lama, who was also injured in the clash, has been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment, police said, adding that 14 personnel of the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police were injured in the incident. Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Khanal said Gurung died due to the clash and that an investigation is under way into the matter.
