A woman died and four other people sustained injuries in a clash between two groups that erupted while some people were fishing in a public pond at Bode Barsain Municipality in Saptari district on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Gangiyadevi Mandal, 45, of Bode Barsain-3. Similarly, four other people were injured in the incident. One of them sustained critical bruises, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office, Saptarai, Bhuawaneshwar Shah.
DSP Shah further added that two different groups had a scuffle while fishing in the pond on Sunday afternoon, which got unresolved and prolonged until 10 PM resulting in the clash between the enraged groups who even used axes and other domestic weapons to attack each other.
Following the incident, the police arrested four people on the charge of fuelling the dispute. According to police, further investigation into the case is underway.
