KATHMANDU, JUN 06 - The Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday slapped jail term and fine to former lawmaker s Gayatri Sah, Shivapujan Yadav and Bishwonath Prasad Yadav for diplomatic passport misuse scam. A single bench of Judge Arjun Prasad Adhikari handed down five-month jail term and a fine of Rs 500 to each of them. The court also slapped one-year imprisonment for Shivapujan and Rs 1 million as fine on the charge of passport forgery. Likewise, the court handed down one-year jail term to agents Prithivi Chhantyal, Manoj Karki, Gopal Baniya, Devendra Poudel, Santosh Raj Uprety and Dil Bahadur Gharti for using the fake passports. Chhantyal was held in Abu Dhabi in 2011 while he was headed for Australia using Gayatri’s forged passport. Chhantyal had paid Rs 16 million to Manoj Karki and Ashish Sherpa to ensure visa to travel to the UK, Australia and Hong Kong using forged diplomatic passports. However, the court gave a clean chit to Haricharan Sah, Gayatri’s father and current lawmaker .
