Chitwan,Bevarise balakh saat barsha dekhi hospital ma. Chitwan/June 8 A 15-year-old boy has remained on bed no. 13 of pediatric ward of Bharatpur Hospital for the last seven years. The boy with Down’s syndrome has been recorded as Bishal Adhikari in the hospital register. He was abandoned by his parents on August 15, 2007 by their parents who had brought him for treatment. Hospital’s pediatrician Amod Bahadur Thapa says that the boy is disabled both mentally and physically. He said that physiotherapy and proper care could improve his condition but hospital has not given him a thought. Bishal needs to be fed and needs help to go to the toilet but as he excretes on the bed as there was no one help him to the toilet. The boy can express his need for food, drink and calls for mother and sister. There are some hospital staffs tending him but the service falls short of proper one. A woman arriving there for treatment of her son said that the boy calls for his mother in the night. “If someone gives him good, the caregivers express displeasure; may be because more food and drink means more excreta”, she added.
