Saptari man kills father over property disputes

Rajbiraj, jaggha vivad ma buwa ko hatya. RAJBIRAJ: To settle a dispute over ownership of parental inheritance, a 39-year-old man beat his father to death in Aurahi of Saptari. Bhola Prasad Mandal of Aurahi-6 murdered his 62-year-old father Chulhai on Monday. Police said the father and son began fighting with lathees at around 7 am today. Area Police Post, Pato said the elderly fell unconscious after being hit by the son and died few hours later. Chulhai, who was rushed to a health post after falling unconscious in the brawl, was later referred to Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital. However, he breathed his last while on the way to hospital. A local said the brawl had ensued between the father-son duo a couple of weeks ago. Chulhai was living with his younger son Jaya Krishna after death of his wife one and half years ago. It has been learnt that Chulhai had allocated some lands for Bhola, but the son was disgruntled with his share. Meanwhile, a police team arrested Bhola who was trying to run away after the death of his father. SP Dinesh Amatya said they have started an inquiry with Bhola. Two members of the Mandal family – Ram Prasad and Ganga Prasad – were injured in the fight.
