Police have arrested Nischal Gurung, 20, of Uralabari Municipality-1 on January 11 on the charge of beating Kumar Pokhrel, 49, Principal of Radhika Secondary School in Uralabari Municipality-6.
Mohit Rai, 20, of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan-1 and Rabin Rai, 19, of Uralabari Municipality-5 who are also the accused have absconded, said Inspector Uddhav Pokharel of Area Police Office, Uralabari.
Inspector Pokharel said that the reason behind the attack on the teacher could not be ascertained.
According to Dhan Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of the Urlabari Municipal Committee of the Nepal National Teachers Association, the victim was hit on the head with a bottle, rod and stone inside the school premises at 10 am on January 11.
After the incident, teachers, students and staff of Radhika Secondary School have demanded action against the culprit.
The school administration, teaching staff and professional organizations have issued a statement demanding action.
The injured teacher is undergoing treatment at Novel Hospital in Biratnagar.
