Protesters from the Parchanda-Madhav faction staged a sit-in on a deserted East-West highway. People's life in Dang has been affected due to the general strike called by the Prachanda-Madhav Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP). 

On the recommendation of the government, President Bidhyadevi Bhandari on February 4 made new appointments in the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Election Commission and other constitutional bodies. The group has called a general strike on February 4 against the appointments accusing it as unconstitutional and illegal.
