Maimal Khatun, 50, and her daughter Haliya Khatun, 28, of Bairawa VDC-4 have filed complaint against two villagers at Kanchanpur Area Police Office on June 20 on charge of assaulting them on charge of being witch. Maimul’s son, Judin, 30, said that local Ali Hussain and his son Umar Hussain came to the house and assaulted his mother and sister on June 15. Judin added he too, was assaulted by the accused with iron rods on June 16 when he verbally complaint about the assault on his mother and sister at Kanchanpur Area Police Office. Judin was treated at Dharmeshwar Hospital in Theliya VDC. Deepak Kumar Karki said that the accused were absconding and that the police were searching them. The medical checkup of the victims would be held on June 22 in Kanchanpur.
