Dhankuta/June 21 NHRC team from Biratnagar Regional Office, on June 21, has monitored the incident of caste-based discrimination by ASI against the Police constable. The team arrived in Dhankuta after seeing the news of the discrimination uploaded in inseconine.org. During the visit, the team met the victim, INSEC District Representative and dalit organizations representatives. NHRC administrative officer Shambhu KC met Yuvraj Pariyar at District Police Office where he has been posted following the incident. After the meeting, KC said that though transferred from his place of deputation, Okhre Police Station, Pariyar has been treated well at the DPO but has been involved in internal work only. Pariyar had complained against ASI Nabaraj Karki of the Temporary Police Post, Dandabazar of caste-based discrimination. A team led by Rajarani Area Police Office Inspector Surendra Prakash Shrestha is also investigating the incident. District Police Office’s Inspector Basudev Chaudhary said police will take steps according to the finding of the team. ASI Karki is also posted at District Police Office after Pariyar made the public complaint. S
