Five persons including parents of a deceased infant have been arrested on the charge of murdering the infant, in Mayadevi rural municipality-3 of Rupandehi.

Earlier, the local police were informed that the one-year-old infant’s body was dug near Danav Khola of the district. The law enforcers, during investigation, also found the body there.

Following the incident, the police arrested the child’s mother Prema Yadav (21), father Raj Kumar Yadav (22), grandfather Buddhi Ram (55) and Rajmati (45). Likewise, Pradeep Chaudhary (26), a resident of Lumbini Sanskritik municipality, was also arrested.

There was a mark of a rope on the throat of the child, hence the body has been sent to the Bhim Hospital for postmortem, says DSP Satya Narayan Thapa, the District Police Office spokesperson.

It has been found that Prema tried to kill herself by hanging, but her sister-in-law saved her by cutting off the rope.
