Police have arrested two people on the charge of human trafficking for trafficking a woman and her daughter to Turkey on the pretext of foreign employment. Among the arrested are Jeevan Bhatta of Gorkha and Purnima Sirpali of Baglung, both are temporarily living in Kathmandu.
Bhatt was arrested from Kathmandu Soltimod on February 23 and Basnet from Kathmandu Maitighar on February 24. They reportedly lured the women to Turkey by promising good employment opportunity.
According to the Bureau of Investigation, the girl was rescued on November 23, 2020, and her mother returned to Nepal on January 10, 2021. After that, based on the complaint filed by them, the police deployed by the Bureau of Human Trafficking Investigation arrested two persons involved in the incident.
