Public Offence Charge against Rape Accused

Saptari/June 28 A 20-year-old woman has claimed that she was being pressurized by the villagers for settlement of the case against Dev Kumar Sada, 26, of Madhupatti VDC-3 by withdrawing the case and that the police was also not supporting her. She added that when Kalyanpur Area Police Office did not take her to any health facilities for medical checkup, she had to come to Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj with her relatives on June 28. According to her, the accused had raped her threatening her with killing her on June 24 as she was sleeping alone at home. The locals handed over the accused to the police on June 25. Inspector Bijay Yadav said that the police had heard that the villagers were trying to broker settlement but refused that they were involved in any way in that process. He added that the police had arrested the accused under Public Offence Act and filed a case on June 26. The woman’s mother is dead while her father is in India for work. Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against Ganeshi Sah, 40, of Odhraha VDC-7 after a 30-year-old woman claimed that Sah attempted to rape her. Inspector Deepak Kumar Karki said that the health checkup of the woman was conducted at Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj on June 27. According to her, he came to her house in the pretext of taking chewing tobacco and she had to raise her voice to attract her cry for help. M
