Provision of citizenship in the name of mother is still not implemented


The constitution of Nepal does not deprive any Nepali citizen of the right to citizenship. However, many young men and women are still stateless. Being stateless is a state of 'statelessness'. Citizenship is an important basic document for establishing a legal relationship between the state and the individual. However, there is news in Annapurna Post daily that people are deprived of state services due to lack of citizenship.

The new constitution issued in 2015 was considered the best in the world. The issue of getting citizenship in the mother's name was written prominently. However, many young women have not yet been able to obtain citizenship in their mother's name.
