POKHARA: Agitating over its 41-point demand, members of Unified CPN-Maoist-aligned All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary today vandalised Pokhara University and set ablaze university property.
The university administration said that ANNISU-R students set ablaze chairs of vice-chancellor, registrar, and planning head and padlocked the university.
ANNISU-R Pokhara University chairperson Rabindra Rokka said they were compelled to padlock the varsity as it was working unilaterally, ignoring the 41-point demand raised by his union. Rokka warned that their agitation would continue unless their demands were met.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress-aligned student wing Nepal Students’ Union PU Coordinator Sandip Paudel condemned the incident and urged the agitating Maoist students’ union to settle their differences through dialogue.
