Shivaji Sah of Gharibathan, Ishwarpur Municipality-12, is accused of attempting to set 58-year-old Shiya Sharan Rai of the same place on fire by spraying petrol over his body. Shiyasharan, who was critically injured in the ablaze, was rushed to Lalgarh in Dhanusha for treatment. According to police, the injured have been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Shivaji had only come to Nepal from Dubai on May 2. The accused has absconded after the incident. During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the Sah had the intention of killing Shivaji over an old dispute.

Police have arrested Shivaji on May 26 from Keshargunj on the charge of murder of his neighbor Shiya Sharan Rai. Shivaji had sprinkled petrol on his body and set Rai on fire while he was sitting in the mango orchard in front of his house. Siyasharan was seriously injured after the fire and died while undergoing treatment on May 4.Shivaji was furious that the rumor that his wife was having an affair with a stranger was spread by the deceased Siyasharan. He had returned to Nepal without telling anyone in his family.
After the incident, the family of the deceased has lodged a complaint against Shivaji, his wife Sunita Devi, and his brother Laxman. Shivaji and Sunita are under police control while Laxman is absconding. Shivaji in his initial statement has confessed his crime.
