A local businessman, Sanjay Pandit, assaulted 18-year-old Shiva Kumar Mukhiya of Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality-6 for three days by tying him with an iron chain on the charge of theft. According to locals, Tej Narayan Mandal, son of rural municipality chairman Suryanarayan Mandal, also beat the youth. Pandit took Mukhiya under control from his house on the morning of May 5, alleging of robbing the shop on the night of April 4. After that, Pandit tied Mukhiya with an iron chain demanding compensation of Rs 47,000. Mukhiya is unable to walk after being tied with iron chains.

Human Rights activist Sunita Sah has demanded the local administration to investigate the incident and take action against the perpetrators.
