Under the leadership of a ward chairman of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolis ward no. 7, leaders and cadres of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have burned the effigy of their party's senior leader Baburam Bhattarai at Tapasi Chowk in Janakpurdham.

They demonstrated against Bhattarai after he made a statement opposing President Bidhyadevi Bhandari's ordinance on citizenship. Protesters accused him of being anti-Madhesi, concerning the fact that the Madeshi people were the ones who demanded the citizenship ordinance.
