Police arrested Keval Ram Rai, party leader of Janata Samajwadi Party of Province 1, on June 3, on the charge of assaulting 26-year-old Laxmi Limbu, a local woman of Mechinagar-6, and Dhiren Subba, an employee for Drinking Water Consumer and Sanitation Assocaition. A group of 6/7 youths including Rai allegedly went to Limbu's house on June 2 and beat her up as well as beat Subba on the residence of the Drinking Water Office.
According to the police, the investigation has been extended by the district court. The drinking water association had registered a case at the Area Police Office, Kankarvitta on June 3 demanding action against the group.
