Ward chairman accused of assaulting principal in Siraha

Jugal Kishor Kamati, ward chairperson of Siraha Municipality-10 along with some local youths allegedly assaulted Asheshwar Mahato, the principal of Narahaiya Sundar Lower Secondary School, accusing him of irregularities in the school. Jugal Kishor Kamati is also the chairperson of the school management committee.
There was a foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the new school building with the help of Rs 1.8 million from President Bhandari on June 9. According to police, the dispute occurred between Asheshwar Mahato and some youths regarding the lack of transparency in the accounts of the school for the past three years.
Meanwhile, some locals are agitated against the incident, accusing that the school management committee was involved in the irregularity, not the principal.
'Durga Pariyar, Siraha District Representative of INSEC, an organization working in the field of human rights, said that it was unfortunate that the teacher was beaten and action should be taken against those involved in the incident.
