A majority of Gandaki state assembly members who supported the claim of Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Krishnachandra Nepali Pokhrel for the post of chief minister staged a sit-in at the state chief's office on June 11.
State assembly members of the opposition alliance objected to the fake claim of the leader of the CPN-UML parliamentary party and current Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung. Gurung had demanded the support of Krishna Thapa of the Rashtriya Janamorcha who had resigned from the state committee and state assembly members of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).
On behalf of the Opposition Coalition, Pokhrel on June 11 submitted the demand for the appointment of the Chief Minister as per Article 168 (50) of the Constitution with the physical presence of 31 members of the Provincial Assembly.
