Kaski/July 15 District Court has sentenced Kalpana Bhujel, 32, of Lekhnath Municipality-14 to one year in prison on July 15 convicting her of trafficking of a 16-year-old girl. The single bench of Ram Prasad Oli convicted Bhujel while acquitted another accused, Nirmal Gurung, the court registrar Dinbandhu Aryal said. The girl’s relatives had filed a complaint at District Police Office on August 15, 2013 accusing Bhujel and Gurung of sale of the girl. They were arrested the next day and a charge of human trafficking was filed. District Court had remanded Bhujel in jail while Gurung was released on the bail amount of Rs 7,000.
