Police have speculated that Sejal Koirala, a student studying in Damak, may have been killed by an acquaintance claiming that the incident is suspicious. Koirala, a resident of Ilam Deumai Municipality-4, who was studying radiology in the third year at the Lifeline Hospital Institute of Health Sciences, died on June 9.
Koirala, who was renting a flat in a house at Damak-5, was found unconscious in the toilet. A friend had contacted her on her mobile phone at around 5 pm on Wednesday. When she did not receive the calls, her friends reached the room and found her unconscious in the toilet.
After informing the police with the help of locals, she was rushed to Lifeline Hospital for immediate treatment. However, she could not be saved. As student Koirala was found unconscious in the toilet, Jhapa police had started a meticulous investigation into the incident. The victim's family has lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Damak on June 15, claiming that Sejal was raped and killed. The victim's father Saroj Koirala said that a complaint was lodged with the police on the basis of the post-mortem report.
