July 17, District Court Makawanpur, on July 16, has convicted a 15-year-old boy of raping a 4-year-old girl sentencing him to five and half years in prison. The court also directed him to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to the girl. However, the single bench of Dipendra Adhikari suspended the sentencing as per the provision of Children Act and instructed the boy’s father to file report on the boy every second month. The ruling also said that if the boy commits another crime during the time, the sentence would be put into effect, the District Court registrar Dasharath Pageni informed. Pageni added that though the boy’s prison sentence had been suspended, his will still have to pay the compensation to the girl.
