Saptari/July 18 The District Police Office has arrested Arjun Mandal, 25, of Khurhuriya in Malekpur VDC-5 on July 18 on charge of killing his wife Puneeta Kumari Mandal, 19. According to police, Arjun was arrested after father of Puneeta, Nathuni Mandal, 41, of Saraswar VDC-8 filed a complaint against him demanding legal action on July 18. The complainant stated that the accused tied hands and feet of Puneeta and strangulated her to death on July 17. The accused, who had told police that his wife died from falling from room of his house on July 17, changed his statement after arrest saying that she committed suicide. Autopsy of the deceased was performed at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj on July 18. Doctor involved in the autopsy said that there are bruises in the neck of the deceased. DSP Kedar Dhakal said that a case would be filed against the accused only after the investigation is complete. He added that the accused was held in the custody of the DPO. Puneeta was married to Arjun as per social traditions on May 6, 2013.
