July 20,Police have arrested Kapaleshwar Mandal, 47, of Khurhuriya in Malekpur VDC-5 has been arrested by police on July 20 on charge of killing his daughter-in-law Punita Kumari Mandal, 19. Nathuni Mandal, 41, the father of the deceased and resident of Saraswar VDC-8 had filed an FIR at District Police Office on July 18 asking for arrest of the accused. It is said in the FIR as that Punita was strangulated to death by the accused and his accomplices at around 6 pm on July 17 because they were not satisfied with her dowries. Another accused, the husband of the deceased, Arjun Mandal, 25, was arrested by the police on July 18. While he was saying earlier that she died after falling down from stairs, he has changed his version since the arrest saying she committed suicide by hanging. The postmortem of the body was conducted at Zonal Hospital Rajbiraj on July 18. DSP Kedar Dhakal said the accused were in custody for seven days for investigation. Punita and Arjun had traditional marriage in May 2013.
