Contractor beats site supervisor to death in Sankhuwasabha

A worker injured in a beating at the 900 MW Arun III project under construction in Sankhuwasabha has died while undergoing treatment. Basanta Shahi, a 38-year-old resident of Tilagufa Municipality-4 of Kalikot, who was critically injured in the beating, died while undergoing treatment at Biratnagar Neuro Hospital.
Arjun Singh, a 50-year-old resident of Kalikot's Mahabai Rural Municipality-2, and a contractor of Patel Engineering Company after consuming alcohol had assaulted Site Supervisor Shahi and seriously injured him on June 24. Singh is suspected of being involved in the beating, according to the District Police Office, and an investigation is underway.
