Residents of Tikapur Municipality-1 have padlocked the office of the municipality on June 30 expressing their disagreement over the division of the ward. The locals demanded that the current ward no. 9 should be at least divided into 6 wards as the municipality said that with the consent of the political parties, preparations are underway to divide it into 5 wards.

There is a Tharu community living in the Bangaun and they have accused the municipality of moving ahead with the work of ward division as per the conspiracy to make them a minority. The locals complained that even though the other proposed wards have been made suitable on the basis of population and geography, the ward where they live has been made bigger.
