Three students injured, 11 arrested while burning effigies of President and Prime Minister in Rukum West

Three student leaders have been injured after police charged batons on them while they were burning the effigies of the President and the Prime Minister at Khalanga, the district headquarters of Rukum West, on June 30. Eleven others have been arrested in the incident.

District Chairman Sushil Bista and District Secretary Narayan KC of Akhil - Revolutionary, and ANNFSU (Revolutionary) outgoing district vice-chairman Sompal Kami were injured in the attack. Among the injured, Bista and KC sustained head injuries and Kami sustained hand injuries. Along with the injured Bista and KC, police have arrested 11 people including Akhil (Revolutionary) central member Sundar Sharma. Leaders of various student organizations have now reached the police office demanding his release.

They were protesting against the dissolution of the House of Representatives on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, unconstitutional appointments to various bodies.
