Press Chautari Nepal has drawn serious attention to the death threats given to Sher Bahadur Thapa, a member of the Karnali Pradesh Committee of Chautari and Chairman of the Parliamentary Affairs Journalists' Society. Threats have been made to journalist Thapa under the direction of Nepali Congress state parliamentary party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi. According to Chautari, Shahi has carried out anti-press freedom activities by inciting people close to him.
Journalist Thapa was threatened over the news article published in Nepal Press Dotcom titled 'Red Number Plate in Government Prado: Chief Minister Gives Car to Congress Leader" and 'Jeevan Shahi is now in Prado who used to say ministers should ride motorcycles".
