The Ward Chairman of Mechinagar Municipality-13 Krishna Raj Sigdel of Jhapa allegedly hit local Arjun Thebe with a brick during a dispute over the construction of a sewer on the road in front of Thebe's house in Charali on July 2. Injured Thebe is the secretary of the Mechinagar Municipal Committee of the Nepali Congress.
Arjun is undergoing treatment at B&C Hospital after receiving first aid at Manakamana Hospital. He got 6 stitches on his head. According to eyewitnesses, Ward Chairman Sigdel hit Thebe on the head with a brick after a scuffle broke out between the two.
Ward Chairman Sigdel is taken to the police station under the leadership of Mechinagar Chief Bimal Acharya and Deputy Chief Mina Upreti to discuss the incident. So far, no complaint has been lodged on behalf of the victim, police said.
