Photo journalist injured as police intervenes by baton charging at students' protest

Police on Saturday intervened at the torch rally taken out by students union affiliated to the five-party alliance at Min Bhawan, charging batons at the students. Photojournalist Nimesh Jung Mewahang Rai was injured when police charged batons.

Police intervened at the protest torch rally organized against Prime Minister while it was heading towards the main road from Minbhawan. Police struck journalist Rai, with baton during the process. Rai is a photo-journalist working at NepalLive.com.

Nepal Students Union, Akhil Krantikari, ANNISU (supported by Madhav Nepal faction of CPN-UML), Samajwadi Vidyarthi Union and Akhil 6h had organized the protest torch rally from from Nepal Commerce Campus at Min Bhawan in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Similarly, Aarti Lama, General Secretary of ANNISU and Central Member Sonulal Yadav were also injured in the incident.
