Police arrested 25-year-old Resika Rai on July 26 on charges of beating her 12-year-old step-daughter Swastika Rai of Itahari Sub-Metropolis-12. The victim's 50-year-old grandmother Purnamaya Rai lodged a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Itahari on July 26 accusing her of assaulting the victim daily.
