Police arrested Savitri Devi Malah, a 40-year-old resident of Ramdhuni Municipality-9 of Sunsari on July 6 on the charge of trafficking 25 Nepali women to Sri Lanka. According to the investigation bureau, she lured a woman with a lucrative job offer in kuwait. She is accused of taking women from Kathmandu to Saptari Rajbiraj on February 21, 2020, and from there to Delhi via Hanuman Nagar. The victim was kept hostage in the apartment taken by Ganesh Rai in Delhi for 12 days. From there she was sent to Sri Lanka via Mumbai. According to the bureau, the accused has trafficked a total of 25 women, including 24 others, to Sri Lanka.
