Five days after six members of the same family were found murdered, the police in the Sankhuwasabha district of eastern Nepal have arrested a neighbour on the charge of the crime. The suspect has already confessed to killing them, according to investigators. The accused has been identified as Lok Bahadur Karki, who was a close neighbour of the victims. As per the statement given to the investigators, he wanted to kill Tej Bahadur Karki only. However, he decided to end the lives of other members of the family also suspecting they would reveal his assault.
A troop deployed to look into the case arrested him from the neighbourhood in the Madi municipality of the district on Saturday morning. The police are expected to make him public today. Earlier, the police had identified him as the first witness of the crime as he was found giving interviews to the reporters about the crime scene. However, the investigators had suspected his role after they found a piece of clothing and a weapon with bloodstains at his house.
