Province 1, Khotang, Rupakot Majhuwagadhi, Ward 2
KHOTANG: The ward office of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadi Municipality-2 in Khotang has been padlocked. The disgruntled locals of Solma padlocked the ward office on Monday, alleging that the ward office building was constructed in a place where it was not convenient for the ward residents.
Locals led by Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) district member Dhaniram Nachung, Congress ward president Padam Puri and CPN-Maoist ward committee chairman Saptmani Rai padlocked the ward office.
This is the second time the ward office has been padlocked in Solma. The controversy started after the ward office, which was operating from a rented house near Hakema Toll Sakelathan in Solma, was shifted to a new building constructed near the bus park in Dandagaun. The locals had obstructed the relocation of the ward office earlier. The land for the ward office building is three and a half ropanis. Apart from that, dissatisfied locals say that one and a half ropani of land about 300 meters below has been passed in the name of the ward. There was controversy from the beginning about keeping a permanent ward office in Solma. In the end, it was decided to keep the ward office in Dandagaun permanently amid disagreements, said Jaspaka district member Nachung.
